Wat is versnellingsbakolie?
De verschillende soorten versnellingsbakolie
Er zijn twee soorten olie voor in uw versnellingsbak:
- Versnellingsbakolie voor automaat (ATF): voor auto’s die automatisch schakelen.
- Handgeschakelde olie (MTF): voor handmatige versnellingsbakken.

Hoe merkt u dat de versnellingsbakolie op is?
Een tekort aan versnellingsbakolie herkent u aan haperend of krakend schakelen, rare geluiden of trillingen. Ook lekkende olie onder de auto en een trage reactie bij het schakelen, vooral bij automaten, kunnen hierop wijzen. Hoort of voelt u dit? Dan moet u mogelijk de olie in uw versnellingsbak bijvullen.
Wanneer moet u versnellingsbakolie verversen of bijvullen?
Het moment waarop u de versnellingsbakolie moet verversen, hangt af van het type auto en transmissie.
- Voor handgeschakelde auto’s wordt doorgaans aangeraden om de olie elke 60.000 tot 80.000 kilometer te vervangen.
- Bij automatische transmissies varieert dit van 40.000 tot 100.000 kilometer, afhankelijk van fabrikant en gebruik.
Sommige moderne auto’s gebruiken zogenaamde lifetime-olie, die volgens de fabrikant niet vervangen hoeft te worden. Raadpleeg altijd het onderhoudsboekje van uw auto om zeker te weten wat van toepassing is.
Zelf versnellingsbakolie vervangen in vijf stappen
Weet u niet zeker waar u moet beginnen? Geen zorgen, het bijvullen van versnellingsbakolie is eenvoudig.
- Vind de vuldop: meestal aan de zijkant of bovenkant van de versnellingsbak.
- Zet de auto waterpas: zo vult u gelijkmatig bij.
- Gebruik een trechter: voorkom morsen tijdens het vullen.
- Controleer het oliepeil: via de peilstok of controleplug.
- Vul niet te veel bij: overmatig vullen kan drukproblemen veroorzaken.
